I mean the fact of the matter is if aokiji fought akainu for 10 days and failed to defeat him there's no way garp's going to simply waltz up to akainu and kill him. I don't think it would be as clear cut as garp murdering sakazuki but either way sakazuki would have badly injured had garp gone all out against him. Plus garp was fresh and sakazuki had been fighting.
Sure garp said he'd kill sakazuki, but that doesn't really mean he can.
We've seen what akainu can do but we've never seen what garp can do. At any rate, garp's retired and akainu is more or less in his prime, i'm not convinced garp is stronger that akainu at all. Heh garp also claimed he would have killed sakazuki and i quite doubt he would of managed but i can say to his defence he was pretty enraged so not on his best rationale.
